Calling for volunteers: We need your help June 7th and 8th!
The United TaeKwonDo Academies and Martial Arts with Heart have chosen and begun working with this year’s charity, Enable.
Enable is a non-profit organization that provides services to persons with permanent physical or cognitive disabilities throughout central New Jersey.
Among the many services provided are; Independent Living - where Enable assists in the individual’s home by helping with cooking, shopping, personal care, laundry and transportation. Accessibility Services that result in home modifications such as ramps, wider doors and stair-glides. This service will allow individuals to continue to live in their own homes! Group Homes in Mercer, Monmouth, Middlesex, and Somerset Counties provide a home and supportive services by a 24-hour staff.
Martial Arts with Heart has not only set a goal to raise $75,000 for Enable, but we are going to assist in several projects throughout New Jersey, this year we are going to get our hands dirty!
We are asking for your help to change the world one kick…one punch… one student at a time.
Our first project is a Group Home make over in Somerset, NJ on Saturday, and Sunday, June 7th and 8th. We need people to paint, build, move furniture, decorate and landscape. We have also registered with Target to provide bedding, clothing, and appliances (click here to go to the Target site).
This is a project that we all can help on, one way or another! Sunday at 4:00 we invite all that participated back to the home for the “reveal” and a neighborhood style block party!
Please help any way you can, sign up at your Academy as soon as possible!
Think ahead . . . every year, MAWH holds its annual extravaganza, showcasing the talents of its students and instructors. It's also the culmination of the year's fundraising events, where a check is presented to a charity.
This year, our charity event is for Enable, Inc. Our 2008 Martial Arts Extravaganza will take place on Saturday, January 24, 2009 from 1-4pm. 100% of your $20 entrance fee goes toward Enable! Plus, enjoy refreshments while you're there.
Attend and enjoy the sense of pride that comes from making someone else's life a better place!
Support Enable in their mission to help people with disabilities live full and independent lives.
